Brief History of TBC
New Life Ministries as a para church organization founded by Mr. C. V. John in the year 1979, in the State of Manipur in India, focused on pioneer evangelism and church planting. However, the increasing need of orphans in Manipur paved the way for the founding of Gilgal Children Homes.
Later, children from NLM’s homes wanted to study God’s Word and serve Him. Considering the need of the hour, Trivandrum Bible College (TBC) as a project of New Life Ministries (NLM) was founded in the year 1989.
Late C. V. George who was an evangelist and an ardent Bible teacher and Late C. V. Baby who was a Civil Engineer by profession, became the inspiration and back bone for the founding of a Bible College in Trivandrum. On 28th January 1989 TBC was officially inaugurated by Dr. Th. Lamboi Vaiphei, who was the chairman of New Life Ministries at that time.
Dr. Charles John served as the first principal of the college, in the initial years. He was succeeded by Dr. Varghese P. Sam and Mr. A. M. Kuriachan. Since 2007, Mr. Georgey Varghese serves as the Director of TBC with an exception of two interim leadership for a brief period of 2 years.

Though TBC was started in a rented building in 1989, God opened a way to have it’s own land in 1990 and started the building construction in December 1991. While the construction was in progress, thatched sheds were used for the accommodation, Offices and Classrooms.
In the course of time the campus took a new shape under the able administration and efficient leadership of Late C. V. Baby, the then Administrative Secretary of New Life Ministries. The infrastructure can today provide accommodation to 8 families and 75 students with sufficient space for library, chapel, class rooms, dining hall, etc...

The first course started was Bachelor of Theology with the aim of preparing young people for Pioneer Missionary work with sound knowledge of the Scriptures and Fundamental Doctrines. And as it progressed the administration felt the need for starting a Master’s Course with the view to prepare those who want to take up pastoral and mission leadership challenges. Both programmes are accredited by Asia Theological Association.

Located in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, also known as the ‘Tropical Paradise of India’, Trivandrum Bible College is a home away from home for all of our students. KERALA, known as the land of coconuts, has 44 rivers and many lakes. Trivandrum is considered as one of the cleanest cities in India. The location of TBC offers panoramic views of God’s creation at every turn. Great tourist attractions like Kovalam Beach, Neyyar Dam and Akkulam Boating center are just one hour drive from TBC. Kanyakumari, the southern tip of India is 2 hours from Trivandrum. Airport, Railway station, Bus station and Shanghumugham Beach are within 10 kilometer radius. Tourists from all over the world, come to Trivandrum to visit these places.
